This is not your usual combo: a mesmerising female vocalist from Iceland backed up by one of the leading bands of the Athenian indie scene!
‘Harmur Fuglsins’ (Icelandic for Sorrow of the Bird) is the arresting outcome of a collaboration infused by the strikingly contrasting geographical and artistic backgrounds of it’s creators: on the one hand FILM‘s nebulous dark-wave amalgamation of post-punk and electronic facets – a seasoned band with more than 10 years of experience, recent appearances at SPOT Festival, Eurosonic Noorderslag and Popkomm and support slots for The Cure, New Order, Iggy & the Stooges and The Flaming Lips – and on the other hand Hildur Kristín Stefánsdóttir, the soothing voice of Rökkurró, Iceland‘s finest folk-pop outfit and prime export with an upcoming performance at Ja Ja Ja, the Nordic Clubnight in London, and a second extensive European tour in the making.
Now add to the equation a sublime remix by reputable Icelandic lunatics FM Belfast and there you have it!

A few months after the release of the third album “Persona”, receiving excellent reviews, Film now collaborate with the upcoming Greek producer Nteibint, for the remix on their second single “Berlin”.

The collaboration between them was more than expected. Film’s variations with electronics on their recent work and Nteibint’s experimentations with the rock guitar sound and synths, created the ideal headroom for Berlin’s transformation. The song is fully reconstructed replacing the drums with fuzzy guitars and electronic edgy beats resulting in a very interesting and different version of Film.

Nteibint
Nteibint is considered as an upcoming upcoming producer in the Greek electronic scene, while his name already appears on the releases from labels such as Warp Records, remixing Jamie Lidell and Mission Control for the Australian Modular Recordings. In one year time Nteibint has collaborates with a large number of artists, as a producer and composer. His personal work has been making a buzz around his name in the local scene. His live performances are based on his work, showing his ability of composing refreshing pop music combining rock with electro guitars with synths.

INN011 - May 2009

“Persona” is Film’s third album. After a vast amount of experimentation in the studio – under the guidance of their renown producer Christos Lainas – Film moved to a different sound and production perspective. Intensely influenced from the compositions of Vangelis [Papathanasiou] and the analog electronic sound, “Persona “ is a rhythmic and arresting soundtrack consisting of 11 tracks, all of them recondite and cinematic in style and structure.
Airy and introspective melodies fit perfectly to Ifigenia Atkinson’s dainty performance in the lyrics section and the exceptional instrumentation of wind and stringed instruments, while the production of rhythmic section is stressfully carried out, with the drums having been recorded in several places, regarding each track ‘s needs. ”Persona” blends electronic with guitar sound, snatchy and cinematic words with the band’s will for experimentation.
“Persona “ also features participations of Abbie Gale’s lead singer Evira in two tracks and Manolis Angelakis (the band’s former producer) as a slide guitarist. Artwork design –illustrating perfectly both the atmosphere and the lyrics in the album- was done by dB, famous for his designs for older Inner Ear releases.
