INN026 - June 2011

“In a city without a future, the future is crying.”

A year after “Koustoumaki” (Little Suit) The Boy returns with a divided release from the label of Exostis. Inside a bag you will find as evidence, his new cd entitled “Iliotherapia” (Sunbathing) and his first novel entitled “Mavro Ema” (Black Blood).

The cd “Iliotherapia” (Sunbathing) was recorded in the winter of 2011 in Soundflakes Studios by callmelazy. It lasts 72 minutes and contains 15 songs, all music and lyrics by The Boy. It was mastered by Giannis Hristodoulou at Sweetspot Studios and the artwork was made by akriliki and asterigrammeskyklos. An image from “Iliotherapia” (Sunbathing):

“It’s snowing on the Acropolis. Ashes of burnt flesh.
The streets are ruled by stray dogs.
The Parliament became just a scar. The blood that comes from it
refreshes the rats in the sewers of the Constitution.
And people in the safe hotel terraces sunbathe to death.”

The 108-page novel, “Mavro Ema” (Black Blood) was written at intervals from 2004 until today. It is a political pornographic writing and follows the efforts of Siopili (Silent) to change the world. An image from “Mavro Ema” (Black Blood):

She looked at her apartment from across the street. What a small house, she thought, for all those things to happen there. What happened in the world had to do with that shabby small apartment at the corner of Patission and Solomou. She remained proud, looking at the window of her room. Someone stopped beside her and began looking in the same direction. They both looked now. As if expecting something to come from either the window or from their insides. “Yes,” she said. “Siopili Zacharia is the Black Blood.”

The book and cd are two dreams that intersect. Two wet nightmares about the future.

“This revolution will be personal”

INN013 - April 2009

After the end of Mary and The Boy, The Boy’s solo path begins with his first recorded work that is now out from Inner Ear. The album is entitled “Please Make Me Dance” and is a 37minute sharp set with a non-stop rhythm that unites all tracks, refuses stubbornly to pause and remains alive. In fact “Please make me dance” is a dance album for the emotionally numb. A dance with no partner but embraced by everybody.

Could a Greek record include songs with English lyrics in 2009? Is English still a foreign language or is it ours as well? In The Boy’s personal manifesto, language is a medium and a goal at the same time. It begins with a bored “Pater Imon” (Lord’s Prayer) and continues with headbanging. Something has to make us dance again. To wake up our body.

The album was produced by The Boy himself and mastered by Christian Vogel
