lolek
Lolek began taking accordion courses in the age of 12 and continued with guitar and drums. Later on, he made his first attempt with the group Mafia Maggots and then with Touched, where he wrote music and played drums.
Then he formed Bolek and Lolek (inspired by the Polish cartoon): Bolek migrated and Lolek remained alone. This was also the title of his first album.
“Alone” was released in May 2009 from Inner Ear. “Alone” is an album full of melancholic melodies and nostalgic atmosphere, with the guitars leading in to the micro space of Lolek. The confessional lyrics, tie up harmoniously with his deep voice that is impressed, with frugal way, as low tempo and dynamic at the same time. The music, in its simple form, comes unambiguously as sincere assessment of her author.
Lolek and Callmelazy produced the album, while mastering was made by Greg Calbi, known of his collaborations with John Lennon, David Bowie, Paul Simon, Interpol, MGMT and others. In the album The Boy plays piano (“Since I am a soldier”, “Oh mama”) and does the backing vocals (“I went to the beach alone”).
Influenced by: Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Johny Cash, Tom Waits, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Thalia Zedek, Smoke, Nirvana, Costa Hatzi, Nichola Asimo, Vasili Tsitsani and others.
“I am repelled of the pretentious casualness, the '’ impromptu’' under the pretext of artistic freedom, the pointless and non roughed, commonly '’ without reason '’. I do not consider myself as an artist and the reason I write and play music is because fortunately I do not consider myself as an artist. The leading element of my first album is waltz. Without partner, dance for yourself, dance for yourself and only, and you approach and capture yourself only once, in this deadly, white loneliness.” Lolek
